I am told that a very large Roman site investigation is ongoing near the powerstation east of Ferrybridge. Don'y know it it is a fort or a small town but it is supposedly large.
I have heard a similar tale but the powers that be wish it to remain quiet until it is secired legally. Wonder what new pictures of the Roman period that will paint?
I know that there has been a lot of work on the Roman roads south of Castleford this past year or so. If any of that work pointed historians in a 'new' direction I do not know. Certainly any reasonable sized Roman site must have had road communication with places close and links to the main trunk roads of the day. Time will hopefully tell.
