Can anybody give any details of the Tadcaster and Haltondial turnpike as named on the milestone opposite the Total garage at the junction of London road in Tadcaster.

What exactly does the milestone have written on it? Haltondial doesn't ring any bells. Any mileage given to any destination?

The only milage indicated on the stone is "Leeds 14 miles" no other town or distance is mentioned.

There is a Halton in Leeds .......could this be a reference point to start with?
